The Village Cafe Menu

Overall, the Village Café on Montgomery Village Avenue seems to have a high energy level with a core group of regulars. The service was sufficient with two bartenders who also served food. Unfortunately the bathrooms were not very clean, so the ladies avoided the facilities, but the value for a bottle of beer or draught was excellent at $3.00 each. Keno is the main focus besides conversation, and the TV's hailed from 1978. While we definitely felt like outsiders at someone's private event where almost all the regulars knew each other, we still might make a return trip for the pizza we saw carried to a table.

Wow. Looks are deceiving. When I walked in I wanted to turn around. Restaurant was empty but the bar was crowded with a lot of drunks. Just felt dirty being there. But after initial shock was happy to be greeted by friendly waitress and fast service. And the food was amazing and what a large amount for the price. All In all looks not so great food makes up for it

Great food, large portions, excellent service. This is my go to for good old fashioned comfort food.

A bit sketchy at first. Next to the dining hall is a bar and overall the place is a bit run down. The reason why I'm giving this place 5 stars is because the staff is friendly and the food is great. You don't need a fancy place to enjoy food. Me and my friends came here one time and we were all recovering from a night of drinking. It was the perfect hangover cure. I always get the cafe grand breakfast (the one with alot of breakfast options). It runs for about 8-9 dollars and it's really worth the price. I can't not recommend it to anyone!

If it wasn't for the Mt. St. Helen's fallout all over the ceiling fan blades they would have gotten 5 stars!

Very poor service, i been waiting my only order chicken wings and takes 45 -1hr to serve. Waiters are not polite enough to explain what things going on, they have only one cook for the entire night and its weekend.

We recently moved to PA and miss this place like crazy!! The Village Cafe will make anyone feel as if they are part of their family. The prices are affordable, the food is great and the bartenders and wait staff are exceptional, especially Sally...she is our favorite bartender. You will want to return again and again. "The Cafe" as it is affectionately called, will become your place for both adult and family fun. Karaoke Night is our fave. Make sure you stop by...you'll get hooked!

A great place to grab bar food and a drink. The steak and cheese, mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders and salads are great. Plenty of food to share. Went for drinks after work, bartender was unsure of our shots, looked it up and did a good job even though they did not carry one of the liquors. Would have 5 stars but it still smells stale and the fans were blowing dust particles. I wish I had a place close to home where you feel like everybody knows your name kind of bar.

Pretty decent food. Nice staff but some very rude and NASTY regulars that can easily ruin the experience for new patrons and casual customers.

Forget Denny's or IHOP! If you're around montgomery village and crave a good breakfast/brunch, definitely check this place out. The decor is old and it's no fancy or trendy place, but the food is home cooked style and the portions are huge! Definitely get the grand cafe breakfast if you're a big eater who likes a traditional american breakfast.

Came in here one morning looking for a yummy breakfast. This place does not open until 9:00 am on weekday mornings - I arrived right at 9:00 am. I ordered an omelette - with mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, and cheddar cheese, plus a side of bacon, a glass of water and glass of tomato juice and coffee. I asked for the potatoes and toast to be left off the plate as I am trying to do more low carb. When the omelette came out - it was huge! Way more than I could eat! I mentioned to the server that perhaps they should offer small and large sized omelettes - she remarked she thought the kitchen made the omelette bigger than normal due to my requesting no potatoes and toast. Overall, it was a tasty omelette. I really wanted some spinach in the omelette - but that was not an option. I will say I like the veggies in my omelettes diced up a bit finer - the chunks of bell pepper and onion were fairly large. The bacon was also a bit overcooked. Coffee was good, service was very good

Village Cafe has been serving Gaithersburg residents for over 30 years. Don't believe me? The interior decor will instantly back up that claim as soon as you walk in and look around. We stopped by for lunch recently and seeing a mostly grey-haired lunch crowd, we weren't sure what to expect. We seated ourselves in a booth and were eventually greeted by a kind waitress who highlighted a couple of their lunch options while we looked over the menu. I ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich with a side of coleslaw. It didn't take very long for the food to arrive and I was impressed with the size and taste of the sandwich, topped with ham, lettuce and tomato. There was also a ton of creamy coleslaw, a nice change of pace from typical fries. I was happy with the entire lunch while watching some Olympic hockey, but I was even happier, yet very surprised, when the waitress told me she was picking up the tab as a thank you for my military service. That was the second time this happened to me in a local restaurant, a gesture I always appreciate from supportive, patriotic citizens.

5 stars why not. I've been a Montgomery village resident for 7+ years and the village cafe is in the heart of my neighborhood everything on the menu is delicious that I've tried from the steak and cheese to the white pizza the chicken tenders to the chicken burger southwest chicken salad the bar is like cheers the employees are pleasant the drinks are good rain or snow they tend to stay open the crowd at night can become a little out of hand but in general it's a jewel to me and it sure beats the other options in the area.. Denny's and McDonald's the tex mex and overpriced Asian spot subway etc no qualms with the cafe If u ask me

Had a good breakfast of eggs Benedict followed with a couple of drinks definitely a good spot for a cheap brew and good food.

I've been in this place many times and always leave with a smile every time. The food is very good and always hot. The beer and drinks are cheap for the area. The only reason I gave 4 stars is the owners need to really update this place and do a major remolding other then that fun place to go.

This place is full of characters and it looks a tad sketchy even but the white Pizza is awsome...Truly one of the best Pizza places in the area!

AW poop! I can't believe it...my first Yelp hate mail...and I get an apology! Leave it to me to get the only NICE hater in all of Yelpdom! So in the interest in full disclosure (and because I can't hold a grudge longer then 10 minutes): From Ryan M (the manager of Village Cafe): fenny, i apologize for alluding to you as possibly liking a bit too much of the chicken. that was low and uncalled for - and for what its worth i don't think it to be the case at all. just so you know we are a family restaurant and have been in business for a long long time. that kind of longevity doesn't come from serving bad food or being unkind to people. it does come from a level of graciousness that i probably forget about for a minute in my knee-jerk reaction review to your review. your friends have been leaving messages on my page that are fairly hostile. i don't particularly care but if you'd like for me to take down my review i'm happy to oblige. hope you accept the apology and as i said, please come in for lunch and a drink on me. cheers ryan ************************* So, because I'm secretly a softie, and because I think apologizing - especially in an PM and not in a public forum - is a class act...I'm bumping it up a star (well, half a star. The other half is for giving me my very first piece of Yelp-hate-mail)... Yes, I know, thank you everyone for sticking up for me...but yes, ultimately, I can be swayed with the offer of a drink (no I won't take Ryan up for it - as I do love writing non-biased reviews, and thusly, I can't accept freebies in good conscience...even if the freebie is delicious booze), and by a classy non-public apology (which is the most sincere apology on the interwebz). :D

I've been here a few times now and because the food and service are constently good, I'm giving it 4. Dont come here for the decor, come here for the food and service.

Try a sheet pizza with extra cheese. It's simultaneously amazing and scary how the cheese will fill the spot after you pull out a slice. The food is great and the atmosphere is very relaxed.

Eaten here a few times. Food is sup par and they mess up the order every time.

Though the physical environment may not be the nicest, what it lacks in aesthetics it more than makes up for in service and food. This is an above average place to just grab a quick bite! The soups are made fresh everyday and are very good! This is the perfect example of don't judge a book by its cover!!

I've been going here for years and years. Back in the day I'd get drinks there with my friends. The staff are down to earth and friendly but the food has gotten progressively worse over the years. I don't go there any more.

Another excellent place that may or may not deliver but you can pay for the delivery from Waiter on the Go. The food here is really good so I didn't mind paying extra. I've never been to the restaurant itself but the food has always been good.
